Admission will be on the basis of roll on system. A student who has been expelled or rusticated
from any college will not be eligible for admission to any course without the prior approval and
permission of the Vice Chancellor.
While determining percentage of marks for eligibility, rounding up of fraction of 0.5% marks or
above to the next full unit is permissible. The above condition of minimum percentage is subject of
H.P. University amendments from time to time. If a student does not produce the actual marks
sheets from the Board/University in respect of 10+2 where the result is shown in grades of
equivalent exam, standards, etc., the minimum percentage of marks for each grade/standard will be
taken into consideration while determining his/her eligibility for the purpose of admission.
A candidate from National School of Open Learning will be eligible for admission to B.A 1st Year
only if he/she has passed all five subjects including English (as per Ordinance/rule vide HPU letter
No. 4-94-HPUA cad.) dated 2nd Jan. 2004).
For fresh admission to the first year of the Course, the maximum age limit is 23 years on the first of July of the year concerned. In case of SC/ST candidates a relaxation of three years is allowed. The Vice-Chancellor, HPU Shimla, may be recorded in writing to give relaxation in age up to a maximum of six months to other candidates also. All such cases may be provisionally granted age relaxation of up to six months by the Principal of the college and a consolidated list of all such cases will be sent for the approval of vice Chancellor by 31st October of every academic Year. A candidate seeking admission to B.A./B.Com-1styear must have studied Mathematics and English at 10th level. The maximum age limit for admission to B.A./B.Com-1syear classes for women students has been raised to 25 years by the H.P. University Shimla.
Note: 10+2 students placed under compartment in 10+2 class are not eligible for admission in first of three year degree programmes in Arts/Commerce.
